Excellent Unit June 3, 2009 Dwayne M. Martin (Collinsville, VA) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
To the other reviewer... The measurements are listed on the Amazon product page.
This unit is very quite and cools a rather large den (40 X 20) w/o overworking the unit. The unit has many functions including a money saving mode & a quite mode. I can place the unit in both money saving & quite mode and it cools the room efficiently when the outside temperture is > 90 degrees. I have had this unit for 1-year now w/o any problems.
It is what it the reviews say! August 23, 2009 D. Down (houston) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Great little unit! Quiet for a window unit and cools a 700sqf area in the Houston, August heat!
okay August 29, 2010 Angela R. Frantz (WEST LAWN, PA United States) I got this air conditioner based on a recommendation of Consumer Reports. (which I trust) So far I am not really impressed. The thermostat states the temperature is a lot less then it actually is and therefore the air conditioner will not kick on. I will be calling the company to get more information and to trouble shoot this issue. I am hoping for a solution.
Great, while it lasted August 25, 2009 Spencer Kiser (New York, NY United States) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
I bought this unit a little over a year ago. Worked great last summer, but this year it stopped producing cold air, and the coils freeze over.
Of course, the warranty on parts and labor ran out 2 weeks after the problems started, but there is a 5 year warranty on the "sealed system", which I suspect is the culprit in this case.
After emailing the company twice and getting no response, I called them. First time, their computers were down, and I was told I'd get a call back in 48 hours. One week later I called again and spoke to someone who gave me two numbers for Haier service dealers in my area. Neither of them service Haier window units. Called again a week later, and got a list of other places that only sell Haier products.
I bought this thinking it was a more eco-friendly choice. Ironically it's probably going to end up in the garbage after one year.
Poor quality, worse customer service July 30, 2010 Bob Dobbs (Washington, DC USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
For a change I thought I would try the emerging Chinese name brand for an air conditioner. We got off to a bad start. It arrived damaged, as if it had fallen off a truck. Loose parts rattling inside. For one thing, the supports for the horizontal louvers at the top popped out. I was able to fix part of it, but there was still rattling sounds inside when it was running, and intermittent buzzing sounds when the air conditioner compressor was running. And LOUD! Think of those roaring ice machines you walk by in hotels and motels.
OK, it's under warranty, so call customer service, right? Wrong! I see another review here from a woman over year ago complaining about customer service. I called the toll free number but kept getting customer service's ANSWERING SERVICE (?!?) even during business hours. The answering service said they weren't Haier but they could take my name and number and someone would get back to me in 48 hours. They didn't. I called back, they still didn't. I have made repeated calls and have not had one callback from Haier in three weeks.
That was when I decided to return the air conditioner to Amazon. My refund has just been issued. If I were you, I would stay away from this air conditioner and stay away from Haier.
